About Us
Top Sweeps Casinos is an independent comparison site covering sweepstakes casinos and social casinos available to players in the United States. This page explains who we are, how we research the platforms we list, what our rankings do and do not mean, and how we pay for the work.
We publish for readers who want a clear answer to one question: which sweepstakes sites are worth a look from my state, and what do I actually get when I sign up? Everything else on modestorelays.org sits underneath that.
What a sweepstakes casino is — and what it isn't
Sweepstakes casinos are not real-money online casinos. They run on a promotional sweepstakes model, which uses two separate virtual currencies:
- Gold Coins (GC) — the standard play currency. Gold Coins have no redemption value. You use them for entertainment, and you can buy more in coin packages if you want to keep playing.
- Sweeps Coins (SC), sometimes called Sweepstakes Coins or promotional coins — the sweepstakes entry currency. SC are given away as a bonus, bundled free alongside Gold Coin purchases, awarded through daily rewards, or requested through a free alternative method of entry. After meeting the operator's promotional playthrough requirement, eligible SC may be submitted for prize redemption, typically cash prizes or gift cards.
The part that matters legally: no purchase is necessary. Legitimate sweepstakes operators publish official rules describing a free method of entry — usually a mail-in request, sometimes an online form — so that participation never depends on buying coins. When we look at a platform, we check that this route exists and is documented, not just implied in marketing copy.
Outcomes in these games are determined by chance. Nothing on this site should be read as a suggestion that prizes are likely, frequent or predictable.
How we research and rank sites
We are a research and comparison publisher. We do not claim to have deposited, played or redeemed at the sites we cover, and we do not present editorial scores as customer-review averages. Our ratings come from reviewing each operator's published material against a consistent checklist:
- Official rules and terms. Are the sweepstakes terms and conditions easy to find? Do they state the free entry method, the playthrough requirement on SC, coin expiration dates and any promotional restrictions?
- Eligibility and state availability. Which states are excluded, and is the list kept current? Availability changes often, and operators sometimes withdraw from a state on their own initiative.
- Age requirements. Most platforms set 18+; some require 21+, either everywhere or in particular states.
- Redemption terms. Minimum redemption thresholds, prize limits, identity verification steps and stated processing times.
- Game library. Breadth of slots, table-style games, live dealer rooms where offered, and which casino game providers supply them.
- Payments and support. Which purchase and redemption methods are listed, and how you reach a human when something goes wrong.
- Responsible play tools. Self-exclusion, purchase or deposit limits, session reminders, and links to problem gambling support.
Scores are editorial opinion, assigned by our team, and they move when an operator's terms change. We re-check listings periodically; the date shown at the top of each page tells you when that page was last reviewed.
How we make money
Top Sweeps Casinos is free to read. When you follow a link to a sweepstakes operator and sign up, we may earn a commission from that operator. That is how the site is funded.
Commercial relationships do not buy ranking position. A site that pays more does not move up, and we cover drawbacks for every platform we list, including the highest rated ones. Where an operator does not have a commercial relationship with us, we still cover it if it belongs in the comparison. If that arrangement ever affects what you read, we would rather you knew about it before you clicked than after.
Three of the platforms we cover, and why
Our full casino listings go into more depth. These three sit at the top of our current rankings and show the range of what the sweepstakes model looks like in practice. Welcome offers are as advertised by each operator and are subject to that operator's official rules, eligibility rules and playthrough terms — always read them before you opt in.
Spinblitz — editorial rating 10.0
Spinblitz leads our list on the strength of its headline promotion and its slot-first presentation. The advertised welcome offer is 100 million Gold Coins with the BLITZ JACKPOT, available to new accounts that meet the operator's eligibility and state requirements. Huge Gold Coin numbers look dramatic, and that is the point of them — but Gold Coins carry no redemption value, so the figure tells you how long you can play, not what you might redeem. The Sweeps Coin side of the offer is the part to read carefully. Our reservation: a headline built around a jackpot mechanic sets expectations that chance-based games cannot be relied on to meet, and the promotional terms deserve a slow read.
Lone Star — editorial rating 9.9
Lone Star is here because its welcome package is unusually transparent about the sweepstakes side: up to 500,000 GC and 105 free SC for qualifying new players. Splitting the two currencies out in the offer itself makes it easier to work out what you are actually being given, which is not always the case in this category. The "up to" matters — the full Gold Coin figure is typically tied to specific qualifying steps rather than granted on signup. Limitation: the more SC an offer includes, the more the playthrough requirement and any redemption minimum determine whether it means anything, and those numbers are set by the operator, not by us.
Casino.Click — editorial rating 9.8
Casino.Click takes a lighter approach to its welcome offer — 150 extra coins and 10 free spins — which suits players who want to try the library before committing to anything. A modest starting package with free spins attached is a reasonable way to sample the slots on a phone without a purchase. The trade-off is obvious: the value on offer at signup is smaller than the headline numbers elsewhere on our list, and free spins are usually restricted to nominated games with their own terms. Worth comparing against the bigger bundles before you decide.

What the money side looks like
You can take part without spending anything, using daily free coins, login rewards and the free entry route in the official rules. If you choose to buy, coin packages are the usual purchase, and Sweeps Coins are normally bundled in as a promotional extra rather than sold directly.
- Buying coins: debit cards and online payment providers are the most common options; some operators support ACH bank transfers, and a few list e-wallets or cryptocurrency. PayPal availability varies by operator and is not universal.
- Redeeming prizes: typically bank transfer or gift card, once you clear the minimum redemption threshold and complete identity verification.
- Timing and limits: operators set their own redemption minimums, per-day or per-week prize limits and processing times. Verification usually adds time to a first redemption.
- Taxes: prize redemptions may be taxable under federal and state rules. Keep your own records and check official guidance or a tax professional if you are unsure.
Games and the wider offering
Libraries are dominated by sweepstakes slots — low-volatility titles for long sessions, high-volatility titles for rarer, larger outcomes, plus progressive jackpot games at some sites. Beyond slots you will usually find table-style games such as blackjack, roulette and video poker, crash and instant-win formats, bingo and keno, and at a growing number of operators a live dealer section streamed with real hosts. RTP figures, where published, come from the game provider, not from us.
Many of the same operators also run adjacent product lines: pure social casino apps with no redemption element at all, prediction or crash-style games, and in some groups a separate sports or daily fantasy product. These sit under different rules from the sweepstakes casino, so treat each one's terms separately rather than assuming they carry over.
Eligibility, state law and responsible play
Sweepstakes casinos in the US are governed largely at state level rather than by a single national framework. Some states permit most operators, some have passed laws or taken enforcement action against them, and operators themselves choose which states to serve based on their own legal assessment. Laws in this area change frequently.
Because of that, we do not tell any reader that a given site is legal for them. Check the operator's eligible-states list and official rules before you register, and confirm the age requirement — commonly 18+, but 21+ at some operators or in some states. Accounts are for adults only, and identity verification before redemption is standard practice.
If play stops being entertainment, the tools are there: purchase and deposit limits, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion at most operators, plus third-party blocking software. Our responsible gambling guidance sets out the options, and national support is available through organizations such as the National Council on Problem Gambling and Gamblers Anonymous.
Corrections, complaints and getting hold of us
We would rather be corrected than left wrong. If an offer on this site no longer matches the operator's official rules, if a state list has changed, or if you have had an experience — good or otherwise — with a platform we cover, tell us and we will check it. Reach the team through our contact page; the site terms explain how our content should be used.
Complaints about an operator itself should go to that operator's support team first, through its published sweepstakes complaints procedure. If that route stalls, let us know — patterns of unresolved complaints feed directly into our ratings.
